Bis is a Critics’ Pick in the Shopping category:
“It’s twenty blocks north of Barney’s and Bergdorf’s, but a trip to BIS Designer Resale is worth the trek for shoppers willing to buy designer pieces secondhand. The tiny consignment shop is jammed with more labels than Style.com’s home page: A recent visit held barely-worn Manolos, several Chanel suit jackets, and a small stash of Hermès purses” Read the rest here

“This cozy boutique accepts only high-end designers, so dig out your Pucci, Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs, but leave anything with the letters H and M at home. Make sure your threads are in pristine condition (cleaned, sans stains and rips). Your duds have a 90-day shelf life, and you’ll get 50 percent of the selling price.”  Read the rest here

“The newest darling of the consignment shop world.”
Dany Levy, Daily Candy

“This ‘tiny treasure’ is a ‘temple of temptation’ to consignment shopaholics for its often ‘brilliant designer finds’ – ‘everything from Ralph Lauren loafers to Hermès pullovers’ – plus a ‘nicely edited collection of bric-a-brac’; a ‘refined’ setting makes this ladies place the next best things to shopping retail’ on Madison Avenue – at about a quarter of the price.”
Zagat Survey, NYC Shopping Guide

“Bis Buzz … The store is filled with upscale castoffs, such as: Hermès scarf, retail $275, here $100; Ferragamo cardigan, retail $275, here $135.”
New York magazine, Sales & Bargains

“Divorces, eating disorders, bad shopping judgement: donors’ misfortunes become customers’ good luck at Bis, where resale is as upscale as it gets and every piece of clothing has a story to tell. Couture pieces are sold on consignment, and any given day a perfect-condition Chanel suit could fall into your hands at thirty percent of the retail value. The evening dress and accessories selection is even better. ”

I was very excited after my great experience to come back and report to all my fellow yelpers.  As soon as I walked in I felt at ease, things were organized nicely and really clean.  I went right to the shoes [and]  I found some lovely Manolo’s and hung onto it while I looked around- again not bothered by either of the saleswoman.  They were so happy to help me once I showed interest and were really sweet and never pushy.  I really look forward to heading back and hope other Yelpers go too and have equally as good experiences! Read the reviews here and note 4 stars (one more than Century 21)!

picture-17-12-29-2008“Bis, is one of those under-rated fashion shopping gems that combines prices better than any outlet store with the quality of most of its upper-crust neighbors (read: Barneys, Bergdorf Goodman, Saks, and the usual Euro-couture suspects). The idea is that nearly every piece of clothing comes from the runways, showrooms, and closets of NYC’s models, fashionistas, and ladies-who-lunch. Guys, don’t be discouraged there are plenty of mens Armani suits, Hermes ties, and Burberry trench coats for us as well.”  Read the review here

‘Many clothes from Bis still have the original price tags and are delivered daily from the homes of  socialites, celebrities, and models.  Pieces by Chanel, Manolo Blahnik, Louis Vuitton, and more at 40-90 percent off the retail price.’ Read the review here

“The ritziest consignment shop in New York. This is where the ladies who lunch send their castoffs after the season is over, so you never know what you might unearth: a Karan cashmere sweater, a Fendi power suit or an Hermès scarf. Prices are reduced by as much as 70 percent.”

“This Prada-green shop has the same French accent as its elegant owner… – lots of Hermes, LaCroix and Chanel. But beyond the pricey Francophile faves are chic finds with gentler price tags, from a vintage powder-blue Adolfo suit ($125) to a Carlos Falchi clutch ($75, about one-tenth the cost of a new one).”  Read the full article here
